Brave Sunshine Music 2

Here are the lyrics of some songs that I have written while being here:

COME TO ME (Mt 11:28-30, MSG)

Are you tired and worn out,
Burned out on religion?
Come to me, let’s run away

Are you seeking freedom,
Hungry for the real?
Come to me, let’s run away

Together, let’s rest
Walk and work with me
Learn unforced rhythms of grace
Our walk is light
Side by side we love
Learn unforced rhythms of grace

I am tired and worn out,
Burned out on religion!
I’m here with you, let’s run away

I am seeking freedom,
Hungry for the real!
I’m here with you, let’s run away

Recover my rest
You’re water for my soul
I find peace in your love

Recover my joy
You’re wine for my soul
I find you in your love

RETURN TO REST (Ps 116)

I love you, Lord
 You heard my broken voice
My cry for mercy
And now I know the God who hears me

Death’s arms entangled me
The grave overtook me
In distress and sorrow
But now I know the Lord who saves me

Our God is gracious and compassionate
You protect us from death and self
You bring rest to us the wary
And lift those brought low

Return to rest, O my soul
The Lord has been good to you
What shall I offer to the Lord
But my every heart beat?

You’re deliverer
You stole me from death
And my feet from stumbling
Now we walk hand in hand

My eyes burned with tears
But you kissed them away
You called me precious
I drink wine from your cup

Truly I am your servant
You freed me from my chains
Your praise beats in my heart
I know the power of your name

Return to rest
Return to rest
God is good
He does good

BREATHE YOUR BREATH (Worship in church) 10-25-15

Breathe in me your breath of life
I am only dust, I’m lifeless bones
Breathe your Spirit as you send me out
My lifeless soul can’t do it on my own

Like the rocks, my flesh cries out!
My heart is in labor pains
My soul thirsts after you
All creation knows it’s need so breathe on me

Breathe in me your breath of life
Grow tendons on these dry and salty bones
Like a seed, may your breath grow
Grow your flesh on me and form your fruit

Breathe in me your breath of life
And scatter death from out my angry soul
Like a spark, may your breath grow
Grow your fire in me and burn your love

I cannot breathe in your presence
So breathe your life in me
Your mercies take my breath away
So breathe your life in me
You whisper, “Peace be with you”
So breathe your life in me
I cannot breathe in your presence

COUNT THE COST (Personal revelation, Lk 9:23) 10-27-15

If I don’t heal you now
Will you still call me healer?
If I don’t show myself
Will you still call me good?

If I don’t speak right now
Will you still listen?
If you are now in pain
Will you still call me love?

Count the cost, count the cost
Follow me and pick up your cross
My love is sufficient

Let me hollow you out
So I can fill you up
My love is sufficient
My love is sufficient

I left my celestial home
And paid the heavy price
Follow in my footsteps
And I’ll make your paths light

I walked the earth alone
Without a single thing
Then I left the earth
Carrying your sin

Ezekiel’s wife
And Stephen’s stones
Peter’s cross
And Job’s home

LEVITICUS 26

You rescue us from bondage
Our personal God
Your presence does not leave
We walk together on the streets

You rescue me from war
Providing a place of peace
You’ve given me attention
You’re with me when I sleep

Set up your residence
In my broken heart
I cannot bear to imagine
Living my life apart from you

You rescue me from hunger,
Giving more than enough
It rains in its season
Your presence does not cease

Your heart is softened to
Every cry of my heart
My tears are in your bottle
And running out your eyes

I can see you on that tree
Where you suffered for

O, you have…
Set up your residence
In my broken heart
I cannot bear to imagine
Living my life apart from you

YOU LOWERED YOURSELF (Philippians 2)

You lowered yourself, Creator to creation
From Life-breather to dust
From Limitless to finite

You lowered yourself, Alpha and Omega
From throne to manger
From sustainer to carpenter

You lowered yourself
So make me lower
Humbled at your feet
That I may lift you up

Take our sins and weakness, limitations
And be lifted up, be lifted, lifted up
You, who’re worthy of all glory
Oh, be lifted up, be lifted, lifted up

You lowered yourself from heaven to earth
From King to gypsy
From Lord to washer of feet

You lowered yourself to the grave
From Healer to sufferer
From Forgiver to blamed

WE NEED NOT LEAVE

You came from the heavens to overcome the world
Now, overwhelm my heart with love
You were flesh on earth to free us from our flesh
Now, free me to live your kingdom come

Glorify the Lord! We need not leave your presence
You are Sanctifier, Truth and Love
Glorify the Lord! We need not leave your presence
You are Immanuel, God with us

You humbled yourself, a sojourner among us
Now send me into your world
You are from the Father, one with the Spirit
Now, help me abide in the vine

You came to us; We abide in you
You never abandon; We abide

MARVELOUS

The sun shines life on earth
Yet star upon star
Galaxy upon galaxy
Universe upon universe
You know their every name

I marvel at your love;  In awe of you
How are you nearing me?
You hold my every detail
In the palm of your hand

Marvelous, marvelous, I marvel
Wonderful, wonderful, your wonders

The world writhes with creatures
Species and species
But you love each sparrow
Even as it falls; even so
You know every hair on my head

You breathed us from dust
All of humanity
Century upon century
Culture upon culture
Your Spirit rests with even me

Your love is marvelous;  It reaches even me

BIG TALK (Peter’s Song)

I have a big mouth and a big talk
My tongue is bigger than my heart
It's a small spark that lights a forest fire
It corrupts, this untameable pride

"Yeah, I'll walk into the ocean storm
Even into the largest waves"
But my tongue is swallowed up in doubt
As I sink into self-deception

"Yeah, I know who you are, Lord
Didn't you call me a rock?"
But why don't I defeat our enemies?
Why don't you complete my will?

"No, I'd never deny the Christ
Even if threatened with death"
But my tongue is burnt in rashness
As I curse him in humiliation

"Do you love me?" he asks three times
He doesn't want my words
He wants my heart
He wants my heart
He wants my heart
"Feed my sheep," he says

Get thee behind me, Satan and self!
As the Spirit falls in holy tongues
Spirit, swallow my selfish fears
And my world of words in fire
